This is the book I won't suggest. Now I have you interested. It is very Swedish and the main character is a physician.
I can remember every detail of this book vividly. Is that a characteristic of a good book? There are several I have no memory of at all.
Now I am reading 4 short stories by Mankell, the verdict is still out.

I thought Beat the Reaper was your next book. I am currently listening to another good one. It has me listening at home as well as on the road, which is my best indicator of a good book. I will spill the beans soon.
It was my intention. I got stuck on Mankell and am about finished with his short stories "The Pyramid and four other stories". This character, Kurt Wallander, is his forte and I wanted to sample his murder mystery books. Interesting and again VERY Swedish! Was taking to Bert before rotary the other day and ask what he was reading---a Mankell mystery! Maybe good(weird) minds follow similar channels.
Listening at home can be dangerous for me, not only does it show that I am inattentive to el spouseo, but I may go to sleep and not know where I am in the book.
I do listen while I am walking my new dog though.
